Frequently asked questions

Common questions from diners and restaurants.

Is AllerLink medical advice?

No. AllerLink is a discovery and guidance tool, not a medical service. It checks a restaurant's declared allergen data against allergens you've told it to watch for — it never suggests, infers, or recommends allergens based on others you've selected. Always confirm allergen information verbally with restaurant staff before ordering.

What happens if a chef gets an allergen wrong?

Every sign-off is attributed to a specific chef and timestamped, so there's always a clear record of who declared what and when. If something looks wrong, you can report it directly from the app — allergen-accuracy reports are a first-class category, routed straight to the AllerLink team, and you can track the status (Received → In review → Resolved). This is why the waiter handoff matters: always confirm verbally before you order, rather than relying on any single source alone.

Do I need the app to see a restaurant's menu?

No. Scanning the table QR code in any browser shows you the restaurant's current, chef-signed menu with full allergen information — no download required. With the free app and a saved allergen profile, that same scan shows the menu checked against your specific allergens instead of you reading the declarations yourself. More on how this works.

When is the app available, and on which platforms?

AllerLink isn't publicly available yet. Let us know you're interested and we'll notify you when it launches near you.

What does chef sign-off actually require?

Every ingredient on every item is reviewed and flagged for allergen presence — Contains or May Contain — before a menu can be signed off. A menu with any incomplete item can't be signed off or published. The chef confirms with a personal PIN, and that confirmation, along with a full snapshot of the menu, is permanently recorded. Full detail on the sign-off workflow.

Does AllerLink guarantee we're legally compliant?

AllerLink doesn't determine whether your restaurant meets any specific law or regulation — that's a legal determination only you and your advisers can make. What it gives you is a clear, permanent record of what your kitchen declared and when.

How much does AllerLink cost?

The consumer app is free, always — no subscription, no in-app purchases. Restaurants subscribe to publish menus. View pricing.

Is my data safe?

Allergen profiles are health data, so they're encrypted at the field level, and you can request erasure or export at any time. See Trust & Safety and the full Privacy Policy.

Important: AllerLink is a discovery and guidance tool. Always confirm allergen information verbally with restaurant staff before ordering. The waiter handoff is an intentional safety step.
